On 14/1, the Thanh Hoa provincial police investigation agency initiated criminal proceedings against Mr. Vu, 58, residing in Hai Binh ward, Thanh Hoa province. He faces charges of "abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the state, and the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals," as stipulated in Article 331 of the Penal Code.

According to the investigation agency, during the 2023-2025 period, Mr. Vu regularly used his Facebook account, named Le Minh Vu, and the fanpage Cong thong tin dien tu Le Minh Vu to post numerous articles. These articles allegedly contained "views and language that were dismissive, critical, and unsubstantiated towards the Party, the state, and government agencies." Additionally, he is accused of insulting and slandering the honor and reputation of Party and state leaders, as well as local leaders.

Authorities allege that these contents showed signs of infringing upon state interests, negatively impacting political security and social order. They also caused public confusion and fostered false, negative perceptions regarding personnel work.

Authorities announced that they seized numerous documents related to the alleged behavior during a search of the suspect's residence. The case is currently under investigation and being expanded.
