Family forced from home after sister’s alleged property scam

Nguyen Van An's family was allegedly forced out of their home after his sister, Nguyen Thi Thuy, used their house deeds to fraudulently sell the property, leading to a group occupying the residence, breaking doors, and cutting electricity.

Ho Chi Minh City (TP HCM) Police on 26/9 completed their investigation, recommending charges against 11 individuals in a case involving Nguyen Van An. The charges include robbery, disturbing public order, and unlawful occupation of residence.

According to the investigation, the incident began in early 2021 when An's younger sister, Nguyen Thi Thuy, borrowed the family's land deeds, claiming she needed them to "borrow from the bank for business capital."

Thuy is accused of subsequently handing the documents over to the couple Nguyen Thi Tam and Nguyen Quang Vang. She allegedly created a fraudulent house sale dossier to receive 950 million dong. To complete the transaction, Thuy reportedly tricked An and his wife into signing blank papers or forged their signatures.

When the deception was uncovered, Thuy fled. Tam and Vang, believing the house was rightfully theirs, repeatedly demanded that An's family vacate the property, but their demands were not met.

Around September 2023, Tam and Vang allegedly sold the house again, this time to Vo Van Lai for 1.2 billion dong.

Police determined that this transaction was an agreement for Lai to bring people to force An's family out of their home. Lai was promised 300 million dong if successful.

Occupying the home, breaking doors to force residents out

As per the agreement, Lai summoned Tran The Vy, Ma Van Phi, Duong Thai Phieu, Lam Thai Thua, To Hoai Thanh, Le Minh Hieu, Ha Duong Vuong, and Tran Duy Hung to An's house, where they pretended to carry out the sale.

The group then positioned themselves inside and outside the house, exerting pressure to force An's family to leave.

On the morning of 24/11/2023, while An and his two children were sleeping, Vuong, Phieu, Hieu, and Vy allegedly broke down the door. A scuffle ensued, and family members were assaulted. An's phone was taken and later sold for 1.2 million dong.

An reported the incident to the police and was determined to have 7% injuries. Following the incident, Le Minh Hieu and Tran Duy Hung fled and are currently wanted by TP HCM Police.

Nguyen Thi Thuy's whereabouts remain unknown. The investigative agency has separated her case to further investigate potential fraudulent appropriation of property.
