After more than 4 days on the run across multiple provinces, suspect Zhang Peng Ju, 39, a Chinese national, was apprehended by police while hiding in Son La, Hai Phong Police announced on September 3. He is accused of robbing a convenience store in Hai Phong of 145 million dong.

The incident occurred on the night of August 27 at a convenience store on Do Nhuan street. A masked man entered, used a knife to overpower the sales clerk, took a large sum of cash from the drawer, and then fled the scene.

During the investigation, police identified Zhang Peng Ju as the suspect. He had entered Vietnam in June seeking employment and was residing on Do Nhuan street, Hai An ward.

Zhang Peng Ju confessed that he was short on money and, observing the store's high customer traffic, conceived the idea of robbing it. The suspect prepared by wearing concealing clothing, gloves, a mask, and carrying a fruit knife, waiting for an opportune moment.
