On 10/7, Quang Ninh Provincial Police announced the indictment and arrest of Nguyen Ba Truong, 56, chairman of the board of directors and director of Quang Ninh Hoanh Bo Forestry Company Limited, for investigation of violating regulations on forest exploitation, protection, and forest products, under Article 232, Clause 2 of the penal code.

Police also indicted and arrested Tran Thi Thanh Hoa, 47, head of the company's public service division, and Nguyen Van Tien, 39, residing in Hoanh Bo ward, on the same charges.

Initial investigations reveal that in 3/2025, Truong directed Hoa and Tien to illegally log natural timber in the natural production forest area of Tai Noong, Dong Giua village, Hoanh Bo ward. The total logged area spans 2.55 hectares.

Assessment concluded that the logged timber was not classified as endangered, precious, or rare. However, this act still constitutes a serious violation of forest protection and management regulations.

The investigation is ongoing.
