Killer of four in Dak Lak faces additional charges

Nguyen Nam Dai Thuan, 37, has been additionally charged with illegal use of military weapons, three months after murdering his wife and three family members.

On 16/12, the Dak Lak Provincial Police announced that Thuan's use of a knife, classified as a highly lethal weapon, to endanger the lives and health of others, met the criteria for the crime of illegal use of military weapons, as defined by Article 304 of the Penal Code.

The new charges stem from a brutal incident that occurred late on 13/9. Driven by jealousy and feeling disrespected by his common-law wife's family, Thuan, also known as "Hao Dien", went to the home of Nguyen Thi Kim Hoa, 33, in Thanh Nhat ward, intending to talk.

Upon arrival, Thuan immediately used a hammer and knife to fatally stab Hoa and two of her relatives. The victim's stepchild was severely stabbed but managed to escape.

While fleeing the scene, Thuan stole an SH motorbike from a resident. He then used a woman's sun-protective jacket to cover his face as a disguise, continuing his escape.

The same morning, police apprehended Thuan in Ea Kao ward, formerly Buon Ma Thuot city, approximately 6 km from the crime scene. Following his capture, Thuan was initially charged with murder and property robbery.
