On 6/2, Robert Richens, 35, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 16 years for the murder of his ex-girlfriend, Rachael Vaughan, 40, in May 2025 in Oxfordshire. He pleaded guilty to murder during his trial on 12/12/2025 at Oxford Crown Court.
In newly released bodycam footage, Robert was seen sobbing and saying, "I'll miss Grand Theft Auto so much" during his arrest on 30/5/2025.
"Which Grand Theft Auto? What are you talking about, Robert?" a police officer asked.
After realizing Robert was referring to the video game Grand Theft Auto VI, scheduled for release on 19/11/2026, an officer remarked that the release date was still far off. Robert immediately replied, "I'll be in prison for life."
Robert then continued to cry, stating, "I can't get it out of my head," and added, "I could have escaped."

Police reported receiving a call from Robert at his home at 6:26 on 30/5/2025, reporting he had killed a woman. He told the operator, "I think I've accidentally killed someone, she's not moving anymore," according to the emergency call recording played at the trial.
The victim was Rachael Vaughan, Robert's ex-girlfriend. The couple had an on-again, off-again relationship starting in 2023.
According to the prosecutor, Robert punched and kicked his ex-girlfriend and used an object to strike her, causing multiple injuries. After the attack, he spent 5 hours at the victim's home cleaning the body, changing clothes, and tidying the room.
Police confirmed Rachael died at the scene. Robert was arrested at his home later that day and charged the following day.

Detective Inspector Stuart May condemned Robert's cruel actions, noting he abandoned Rachael alone in the house, made no attempt to help her or seek medical attention, and only contacted police when he had no other option.
