Ho Chi Minh City police arrested 40-year-old Tran Van Trung on 15/7 for investigation of intentional injury and humiliation.

On 12/7, Trung livestreamed himself on social media from a rented room on Bau Bang street in Thu Dau Mot ward with his girlfriend and their baby. He threatened the young woman as she sat on a mattress holding the infant.

Trung repeatedly asked her "Are you tired yet?" before slapping and hitting her in the face, ignoring the baby's cries. The victim did not defend herself, focusing solely on comforting her child. Trung then addressed his livestream audience, saying "Can you hear me everyone?", before resuming the assault.

The incident sparked outrage and condemnation online. Upon learning of the police investigation, Trung fled to An Giang province.

After being urged by Ho Chi Minh City police, Trung surrendered and confessed.
