Thua and the 39-year-old victim, Nguyen, worked together at a company in what was formerly Binh Duong province (now Ho Chi Minh City). After a company party late last year, Thua offered to take Nguyen home when she became intoxicated, but instead took her to a motel. There, he secretly recorded them having sex.
Thua later repeatedly demanded Nguyen have sex with him, threatening to post the video online. Fearing the consequences, Nguyen fled to her hometown to escape his harassment.
Recently, Thua contacted Nguyen again, demanding she return or pay him 50 million VND. Nguyen sought help from the Binh Duong vigilantes.
On the evening of 7/7, Thua was arrested by the vigilantes and police while receiving money from Nguyen at a cafe in Binh Hoa ward.
