Hanoi Police's Investigation Police Agency announced on 12/12 that Dang Tu Thinh, 48, a resident of Phuong Duc commune, has been charged with murder and temporarily detained. The charges stem from an incident where Thinh allegedly pushed a traffic police officer into the path of an oncoming truck.

The incident occurred around 13:35 on Provincial Road 429 in Phuong Duc commune. Thinh was riding a motorbike without a helmet and was suspected of using a fake license plate. Captain Nguyen Duy Diep, an officer with Road Traffic Police Team No. 8, spotted the violation and ordered Thinh to stop for an administrative check.
Thinh asked Captain Diep to overlook the violation, but his request was denied. As Captain Diep was leading Thinh's motorbike to a nearby police post for processing, Thinh suddenly grabbed him from behind. Thinh then held Captain Diep and his motorbike tightly, pushing them directly into the path of an oncoming truck moving in the opposite direction.
In that dangerous moment, Captain Diep managed to avoid the truck's wheels, narrowly escaping death. Thinh's motorbike, however, was dragged under the truck.
Thinh was immediately apprehended at the scene.
