Police discovered the body of 35-year-old Thai national Duangpon Arthan on 19/9, concealed in a suitcase within a freezer at a technology company in Taichung.

The body had reportedly been hidden for one week. Arthan's boyfriend, identified only by his surname Ngo, was arrested on the morning of 19/9 and subsequently led police to the freezer.

Ngo, 43, worked in administration and logistics at the company. He met Arthan last year during a trip to Thailand, where they began a romantic relationship. The couple would occasionally meet in either Taiwan or Thailand.

According to reports, Arthan arrived in Taiwan on 2/9 for a planned 14-day stay. Surveillance camera footage from the evening of 12/9 showed Ngo bringing a large suitcase to a hotel near Taipei's Ximending district, where Arthan was staying. Around 1 AM the following day, Ngo was seen leaving the hotel with the same suitcase.

Arthan had not been seen or contacted since Ngo's departure from the hotel. Her family, concerned, asked a friend in Taiwan to report her missing to the police.

The surveillance camera images were instrumental in local police apprehending Ngo. He confessed that he strangled Arthan to death because he could not accept her demand to break up. Following the killing, Ngo placed her body in the suitcase, transported it to his office in Taichung, and hid it in a freezer.

Following interrogation, police transferred Ngo to the Taichung District Prosecutors Office for a murder investigation. Prosecutors stated Ngo is strongly suspected of murder due to significant evidence, and they cited a risk of him fleeing, destroying evidence, or committing similar crimes. Consequently, prosecutors requested his temporary detention, which the court approved.
