On 23/5, Dong Thap Provincial Police announced that Waterway Police Team No. 2 summoned a man from Trung An ward for questioning. At the authorities' office, he admitted to the actions, stating he had purchased the canoe for 150 million dong.
A few days prior, he drove the canoe on the river, then allowed his 3-year-old son to operate it for about 3 minutes, filming the act and posting it on social media.

Upon checking the canoe's records, police discovered that its technical safety and environmental protection certificate had expired about 8 years ago. Furthermore, the man did not possess a professional operating certificate.
Waterway Police Team No. 2 then issued an administrative penalty report against the man for three violations, including allowing an underage person to operate the vehicle. The total maximum fine could reach 20 million dong. He was also required to remove the video he had previously uploaded.
