On 22/5, the Da Nang City Police Investigation Agency announced it has initiated a criminal case and charged Huynh Van Lo (48, residing in Ban Thach ward, Da Nang City) with producing and trading counterfeit food. The investigation began during the 2026 Action Month for Food Safety, when the Da Nang City Police Economic Police Department identified suspicious activity at the business operated by Lo, indicating the production of substandard bird's nest. Authorities subsequently inspected the company's production workshop and business premises in Tam Xuan commune and Ban Thach ward. During these inspections, they discovered nearly 11,000 jars of packaged and labeled finished bird's nest soup, ready for market distribution.
Police stated that although these bird's nest jars were advertised as nutritious food, inspection results revealed the ingredients and their quantities in the batch did not match the declared information. The product, branded Yen Sao Le Huynh Dat Quang, was found to be substandard.

This case is one of several during the Da Nang City Police's intensified crackdown on unsafe food. Over the past month, the city's economic police forces have reviewed numerous food processing facilities, food service businesses, and collective kitchens. This extensive effort aims to promptly prevent tactics used to introduce substandard food to the market and protect public health.
During the peak month of the campaign, Da Nang City Police discovered and handled 29 cases involving 29 individuals violating food safety laws. Authorities issued administrative fines for 28 cases totaling nearly 190 million VND, and initiated a criminal case related to Lo's company. Police advise citizens to only choose products with clear origins and to promptly report any signs of violations to authorities to protect public health.
