On 23/4, Da Nang City Police's Criminal Police Department announced the temporary detention of Tran Duy Khoa, 47, who has four prior convictions, for investigation into property theft.

Beginning in early april, Khoa would operate from 11 p.m. until dawn, sneaking into patient rooms to steal phones or wallets while patients and their relatives were asleep.

In the early hours of 23/4, after breaking into Bac Quang Nam Mountain General Hospital and stealing three phones (an iPhone 14 Pro Max, a Redmi, and an Oppo), Khoa was caught red-handed by police while attempting to sell the stolen goods.

During questioning at the investigative agency, the suspect admitted to committing over 20 thefts in less than one month, appropriating property valued at over 100 million VND.

Police seized 9 mobile phones and various personal identification documents at the scene. The case is currently under expanded investigation to identify additional victims. The medical facilities targeted by Khoa include Tam Tri Hospital, Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, and medical centers in Dien Ban ward, Thang Binh commune, Dai Loc.

Authorities advise people at medical facilities to heighten their vigilance and avoid leaving valuable property near entrances or in public areas, especially during late hours, to prevent exploitation by criminals.
