Police search for couple suspected of extorting and murdering aunt

Truong Thi Kieu and her lover are accused of restraining Kieu's aunt, forcing the family to transfer 150 million VND, robbing her, and then fleeing.

On 24/6, Tra Vinh Provincial Police announced they are searching for 42-year-old Kieu and her 38-year-old lover, Do Hoang Long, in connection with a murder and robbery that took place at the couple's newly opened cafe.

Initial investigations reveal that on 22/6, Kieu invited her aunt from Binh Phu commune to Dai Phuoc commune (both in Cang Long district) for the grand opening of her cafe. Upon arrival, the aunt was allegedly restrained by Kieu, who then demanded a ransom from the family.

Between then and 23/6, the aunt's family transferred 150 million VND to an account provided by Kieu. Unable to contact the victim or Kieu, the family went to the cafe to investigate. There, they discovered the aunt's body with multiple stab wounds. Her belongings were missing.

Tra Vinh Provincial Police have identified Kieu as the primary suspect in the murder and robbery, with Long considered an accomplice. Both have reportedly fled the area.

Authorities are urging Kieu and Long to surrender to the nearest police station to receive leniency. They are also asking the public to provide any information that may lead to their arrest and help resolve this serious crime.
