At the police station, Cong admitted to the murder. Originally from Gia Lai, he is a drug user with no stable job, and had been wandering around the Long Thanh area.

Yesterday afternoon, Cong planned to rob a motorbike driver to get money. He armed himself with a switchblade.

In Hamlet 8, Long Thanh Commune, Cong saw a 55-year-old ride-hailing driver from Tien Giang and pretended to hire him for a ride to Xuan Duong Commune for 100,000 VND. Along the way, he asked the driver to take less-traveled routes, looking for an opportunity to strike.

Upon reaching a deserted stretch of road in the Loc An - Binh Son Industrial Park, Long Thanh Commune, Cong pretended to ask the driver to stop so he could use the restroom. He then suddenly attacked the driver, stabbing him in the neck. The victim died at the scene.

After the attack, Cong stole the motorbike, money, and vehicle registration from the driver's wallet and fled.

After receiving reports of the driver's body, police investigated and identified Cong as the suspect. Six hours later, they arrested him in Xuan Duong Commune.
