Teen punches store owner, steals two iPhones

Nguyen Van Hung pretended to be a customer before punching a store owner and stealing two iPhone 14 Pro Max phones, valued at 30 million VND, then fled to Ho Chi Minh City.

On 15/1, Hung, 17, from Bach Ha commune, was criminally detained by Nghe An Provincial Police for investigation into property robbery.

According to the investigation, around 20h30 on 10/1, Hung, wearing a jacket, helmet, and mask, drove a motorcycle to a phone store in Van Hien commune, pretending to buy a phone. After a few seconds of asking for advice and viewing 5-6 products, Hung suddenly punched the female owner, who was sitting opposite him, in the face and stole two iPhone 14 Pro Max phones.

At that time, a child was also present in the store. Unexpectedly attacked, the female owner climbed over the display cabinet, shouted for help, and pursued the robber. However, security camera footage shows that when Hung pulled out an object resembling a weapon to threaten her, the owner pleaded for mercy and backed away.

Hung then ran out, drove away on his motorcycle, and took a bus to flee to the South. Based on the victim's report, Nghe An Provincial Police launched an investigation and, in the early morning of 14/1, arrested Hung while he was hiding in Trung My Tay ward, Ho Chi Minh City.

Hung has a criminal record, no stable job, and had just returned from a correctional facility.
