Thanh Hoa hospital fabricated medical records

Police have determined that doctors and nurses in four departments of Hac Thanh General Hospital, formerly Thanh Hoa City General Hospital, fabricated 20 medical records, suspected of aiding in property appropriation.

On 16/7, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Investigation Agency announced it is investigating a case of fraud and abuse of power at Hac Thanh General Hospital (formerly Thanh Hoa City General Hospital) between 2021 and 2024.

Several doctors, nurses, and hospital staff have been summoned for questioning, but police have not released details.

Authorities allege that from 2021 to 2024, numerous medical professionals in the Internal Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, and Infectious Diseases departments of the hospital fabricated 20 medical records. The patients listed were from various locations, of different ages, and were admitted for various ailments for an average of 9-10 days.

The Internal Medicine department had the most fabricated records with 8, followed by Surgery with 7, Pediatrics with 3, and the remaining in Infectious Diseases.

Initial investigations indicate these records were fabricated for fraudulent purposes, property appropriation, and illicit gain. Police have released the fabricated records and requested life insurance companies to review and cross-check any hospitalization cases or insurance claims related to them. The companies are asked to submit any related files to the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police.

In late 2024, Nhu Xuan District Police prosecuted 16 individuals (including 7 medical staff from district-level hospitals in Thanh Hoa) for colluding to defraud insurance companies, causing serious consequences.
