On the evening of 24/1, a 33-year-old homeowner from Ngu Hanh Son ward reported a theft. His family had left their home after 5 PM and returned around 8 PM to find a mini-safe in their bedroom pried open. The ground-floor emergency exit also showed signs of forced entry. The total value of stolen assets was approximately 300 million VND.
The Criminal Investigation Department, in coordination with Ngu Hanh Son Ward Police and the Criminal Technical Department, processed the crime scene. They quickly identified two foreign nationals as the suspects. After the theft, the suspects changed clothes, discarded their disguises in a roadside trash bin, and fled in different directions.
Investigators, believing the suspects would likely leave the area, deployed officers to bus stations, train stations, and airports. On the evening of 25/1, officers discovered Ling Zingfeng and Yang Jun Yun had purchased train tickets to Hanoi. A task force, collaborating with Nghe An Police, apprehended them when their train stopped at Vinh station.
According to their statements, the two Chinese nationals entered Vietnam for gambling. After losing all their money, they repeatedly broke into homes to steal property. Following each successful heist, they would transport the stolen goods to Hanoi for sale before returning to Da Nang.
Authorities recovered evidence including: eight silver bars, three gold bracelets, one gold necklace, one gold earring, and two watches. Police have transferred the two suspects back to Da Nang for further investigation.
