Two vice chairmen of Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association nominated for National Assembly delegate

The Vietnam Bar Federation and Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association have for the first time nominated two candidates for the 16th National Assembly, Nguyen Hai Nam and Ha Hai. Both received 100% confidence from resident voters.

On the afternoon of 8/2, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh My Tay ward organized a conference to gather feedback and voter confidence for lawyer Nguyen Hai Nam. Mr. Nam serves as Vice President of the Vietnam Bar Federation and Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association.

Mr. Nam's biography highlights his academic background, including a Master of Laws from UC Berkeley University (US), obtained under a government project designed to train legal experts and lawyers for international economic integration. Since 2008, he has been elected Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association multiple times and is currently Vice President of the Vietnam Bar Federation.

The Vietnam Bar Federation nominated Nguyen Hai Nam as a candidate for the 16th National Assembly. Simultaneously, the Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association nominated him as a candidate for the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council for the 2026–2031 term.

At the conference, all participating voters cast their votes of confidence. Voter Sy Hong Nam described the candidate as personable and friendly, expressing hope that Mr. Nam would contribute significantly to the people if elected.

Addressing the voters, Mr. Nam acknowledged that being included in the confidence-gathering list was a great honor and a significant responsibility. If elected, he committed to acting as a bridge between the people and state agencies, participating in developing and supervising law enforcement, and integrating the legal profession with social life.

"I always believe that no matter the position, one must be a good citizen with responsibility to the community where they live", Mr. Nam said.

Earlier, on the evening of 6/2, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dien Hong ward, in coordination with the ward People's Committee, held a conference for lawyer Ha Hai. Mr. Hai is Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association, a Standing Committee Member of the Vietnam Bar Federation, and Vice Chairman of the Law Building and Legal Aid Committee of the Vietnam Bar Federation.

The Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association nominated lawyer Ha Hai as a candidate for the 16th National Assembly for the 2026-2031 term.

During the conference, voters heard a presentation of Mr. Hai's biography, followed by a discussion where they expressed positive assessments of his moral character, professional competence, and work experience.

Voter Ho Dac Thanh, Secretary of the Party Cell for neighborhood 21, noted that lawyer Ha Hai possesses good moral character, is exemplary in abiding by the law, has strong political fortitude, and professional prestige. Mr. Hai actively participates in social welfare activities, including providing scholarships for disadvantaged students. He also coordinates with local authorities to disseminate legal knowledge, such as the Law on Military Service and the Law on Marriage and Family.

Voter Le Thi Thu Hong, Head of neighborhood 21, concurred, assessing lawyer Ha Hai as dedicated to his profession, enthusiastic, and active in community activities.

Speaking at the conference, lawyer Nguyen Van Hau, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association, thanked the local authorities and residents for organizing a compliant meeting. He highlighted that this was the first time the Ho Chi Minh City Bar Association had nominated its members as candidates for the National Assembly, adding that the voters' feedback was frank, sincere, and constructive.

Mr. Hau expressed his hope that, regardless of their position, the candidates would continue to leverage their expertise, remain close to the people, actively participate in social welfare activities, disseminate legal knowledge, and propose solutions to meet the legitimate aspirations of voters.

The conference then proceeded to a show of hands vote, with 100% of participating voters approving and expressing confidence in lawyer Ha Hai's candidacy for the 16th National Assembly.

Lawyer Ha Hai expressed gratitude for the confidence shown by resident voters. He affirmed his commitment to continued training, striving, actively contributing to policy-making, helping develop the locality and Ho Chi Minh City, and endeavoring to fulfill his assigned duties.
