On 25/7, An Giang provincial police criminally detained Bui Truong Thanh, Dinh Van Minh Tien, Nguyen Tran Minh Tuan, and Huynh Tan Dat, aged 18 to 33, for investigation into murder. The detention follows an incident on the evening of 22/7 in Tri Ton commune, where the group allegedly assaulted a man over an unpaid debt of 180 million VND.

The incident occurred after Thanh, Tien, Tuan, and Dat had been drinking beer with friends. Following the gathering, the group rode motorbikes to the boarding house of Anh Hong, 31, to demand repayment of the debt.
When Anh Hong stated he had no money to repay the 180 million VND, Thanh, Tien, and Dat allegedly beat him with their hands, feet, and a wooden stick. Tuan did not directly participate in the physical assault but reportedly verbally abused, threatened, and failed to intervene.
After approximately 15 minutes, the group saw Anh Hong lose consciousness and transported him to the emergency room.
The next day, Anh Hong died. The four suspects subsequently surrendered to the police.
