On 7/12/2024, An Dong Ward Police, working with the Ho Chi Minh City Police's Criminal Police Department (PC02), arrested a 33-year-old woman from Dong Thap province. She is under investigation for allegedly committing multiple thefts.

Investigators reported that on the morning of 27/11/2024, the An Dong Ward Police received a report about a woman who had entered the dormitory campus of the Ho Chi Minh City University Preparatory School on Nguyen Chi Thanh Street (in what was formerly District 5). She allegedly entered multiple rooms and stole numerous items from Lao international students.
Considering the gravity of the incident and its involvement with foreign citizens, the An Dong Ward Police Command deployed numerous detectives to work with PC02 on the investigation. Footage from various surveillance cameras showed the suspect repeatedly changing clothes and backpacks, seemingly to conceal her identity.

During the investigation, police identified the 33-year-old woman as the suspect. She had previously committed a similar crime in Thanh My Tay Ward (formerly Binh Thanh District). Following leads from various data sources, detectives successfully apprehended her.
The woman confessed to breaking into the dormitory and stealing a computer, an iPhone, 9 million VND, 100 USD, and other valuables. A search of her residence uncovered numerous exhibits and documents linking her to additional theft cases.
