The investigation concluded that Bich, driven by her husband Nguyen Thoai Thanh The’s (40) gambling debts, initially planned to commit suicide. She purchased cyanide online for one million VND and hid it in an aluminum cabinet under the bathroom sink. However, during their marriage, Bich decided to poison her husband with the cyanide instead.
On 5/10/2023, knowing The would be taking his medication, Bich laced a capsule with the poison. The was hospitalized after ingesting the capsule and died on 18/10/2023.
Later that year, a financial dispute with her younger sister led Bich to poison her 6-year-old niece, Di, as an act of revenge. On 1/1/2024, she mixed the poison into Di’s drink, resulting in the child's death.
Bich then lived with her sister-in-law and frequently argued with her. This prompted her to poison her 13-year-old nephew, Nam. On 25/5/2024, she laced Nam's water bottle with cyanide. He died the next day.
Using the same method, on 22/6/2024, Bich put cyanide in a capsule and gave it to 19-year-old Thien (Nam's brother), claiming it was medicine for his liver and acne. Thien lost consciousness and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors discovered cyanide in his stomach.
Thien's family reported the incident to the police, leading to Bich’s arrest. Thien survived with 23% bodily injury.
Authorities consider Bich’s actions dangerous, demonstrating cruelty and disregard for the law. She targeted her own family members, resulting in three deaths and one injury.
Regarding the deaths of Bich’s father and son in 2023, investigators found no evidence linking her to their deaths.
