The story of Hanoi student Nguyen Tuan Anh, 19, who endured 37 hours lost in the Tam Dao forest last April, surviving on spring water and ChocoPie from his backpack, has deeply inspired the community, especially young people. His ordeal garnered attention not just for the events he faced, but also for the underlying lessons of his journey: the spirit of confronting the unexpected, self-belief, and unwavering perseverance.
Amidst the hurried pace of modern life, many young individuals seek to reclaim personal time by "lang thang" (wandering or roaming). This doesn't necessarily mean traveling far or conquering a famous destination; sometimes, it's simply stepping out of a familiar routine, following one's own rhythm, and listening to oneself.

For Tuan Anh, "lang thang" is primarily about freedom. With a love for nature and travel, he often seeks new routes to explore the world and challenge his own limits. Each journey is a step out of his comfort zone. Some trips test his physical endurance, others open new perspectives, and some impart lessons no plan could prepare him for. "These trips truly help me grow with different experiences", Tuan Anh said.
Extensive travel has also helped Tuan Anh realize that freedom does not equate to a lack of preparation. A backpack always needs water, food for energy, and essential items. More importantly, travelers must understand their own capabilities, stay alert, and be ready to adapt when the journey changes.

After each journey, Tuan Anh brings back more than just images of the places he visited. He gains memories, new friends, personal growth, and a different perspective of himself. "For me, 'lang thang' is not merely moving from one place to another. It's a time to live fully in the present experience, listen to my body, face challenges, and realize I can be stronger than I ever thought", Tuan Anh shared.

Since 2020, the term "lang thang" has been playfully adopted by many young people in content about dining and daily life moments. They might go somewhere, enjoy a delicious dish, and jokingly call it "lang thang ChocoPie", combining it with the name of an Orion product. Over time, the phrase's usage expanded to captions or hashtags associated with activities like going out, strolling, visiting cafes, riding bikes, taking photos, or traveling alone or with friends. The common thread in these moments is the spirit of enjoying life in one's own way.

Appreciating Tuan Anh's authentic story and inspired by the community's "lang thang ChocoPie" spirit, Orion brought this inspiration to life, featuring it on 12-piece ChocoPie boxes last August.
Concurrently, Orion organized a Lang Thang ChocoPie exhibition on social media. This initiative helped more people discover this spirit, find inspiration from relatable stories, and share their "lang thang" moments in their own way.
"Orion did not create Lang Thang ChocoPie; instead, we chose to listen, appreciate, and continue an inspiration that naturally formed within the community. Through this, we expand our connection with consumers in a youthful, approachable, warm way, while fully embodying ChocoPie's spirit of 'affection'", a brand representative shared.
