Born into a Kenyan immigrant family in the US, Kimanzi grew up believing money was taboo. He witnessed his parents work tirelessly to make a living, yet he never knew details about their income or debts.
At 17, a major turning point came when Kimanzi was expelled from home for refusing his family's wish for him to become a pastor.
At 18, armed with a commercial driver's license, he embarked on his career. Starting as a pizza delivery driver, Kimanzi opened his own transportation company a year later. While his business quickly prospered, it also marked the beginning of his troubles.

People who had once been distant suddenly reappeared, not to reconcile, but to borrow money. At just 20, supporting a young family and numerous bills, he faced additional financial pressure from endless requests from relatives.
The biggest turning point arrived in 2023. After over a decade in online business, Kimanzi officially earned more than one million USD. He did not flaunt his account balance, but external changes such as a comfortable home, a new car, and parties for friends clearly signaled his newfound wealth.
Immediately, incessant requests for money poured in. Many assumed Kimanzi was obligated to pay for all social gatherings. Despite his efforts to help, he faced criticism, labeled "greedy" or "stingy" whenever he declined an unreasonable request.
"For a long time, I felt my only value in their eyes was a money-printing machine", Kimanzi shared.
The psychological pressure plunged the astute businessman into crisis. It took years of therapy for him to realize that past insecurities and a fear of abandonment made him vulnerable. He understood his self-worth was far greater than any material provision.
Kimanzi decided to cut ties with his two closest friends and some family members. He began learning to say "no" and established firm boundaries to protect his peace of mind.
After 24 years of struggle, the greatest lesson this millionaire learned was not about making money, but about discernment in relationships. For Kimanzi, true wealth is not merely the one million USD figure, but mental freedom and not having to please everyone.
