With a network of over 14 factories in Japan and 30 global branches, Morinaga ensures quality through a dual process. Its entire production system adheres to the international Codex standards established by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO), and holds FSSC 22000 certification, one of the most stringent food safety standards. Key ingredients like lactoferrin and the probiotic BB536 are recognized as safe by reputable agencies like the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Pioneering lactoferrin for immunity
Since the 1960s, Morinaga's scientists have been exploring how to unlock the immune benefits of breast milk to build a strong immune foundation for children. After two decades of research, in 1986, Morinaga successfully added lactoferrin to its formula milk, bringing this key immune component from colostrum closer to children worldwide.
Abundant in colostrum, lactoferrin plays a vital role in developing and protecting a child's immune system. By binding to iron molecules, lactoferrin inhibits infection and prevents the growth of harmful bacteria, while also strengthening the child's natural immune system. Morinaga continues its research on lactoferrin, publicly sharing its findings on its official platforms.

Morinaga has achieved several milestones in its lactoferrin research. In 2012, the company received GRAS certification from the US FDA for its lactoferrin, opening doors to demanding markets and affirming its safety. In 2020, by fully acquiring MILEI GmbH in Germany and doubling its production capacity, Morinaga solidified its position as the world's leading lactoferrin producer, with its product meeting US GRAS standards and recognized in numerous countries.
In 12/2024, the company published its latest research, revealing how lactoferrin acts as an "immune amplifier," boosting the body's natural defenses. Among over 9,000 scientific publications on lactoferrin globally, Morinaga holds the most research on this nutrient in the SCOPUS academic database.
With lactoferrin and the probiotic BB536, Morinaga has established a powerful duo in its nutritional products, contributing to healthy weight gain in Japanese children. Furthering this vision, in 2023, Morinaga Milk Industry established Morinaga Le May Vietnam, a subsidiary under the Japanese corporation. This move signifies Vietnam's strategic importance to Morinaga, ensuring that 100% genuine products reach Vietnamese consumers under the direct quality supervision of the corporation.
