Hoa immediately checked the man's pulse. Finding none, she laid him flat, performed chest compressions, and asked bystanders to move back to give him air.
After about a minute, the man's pulse returned, but he remained unconscious. Hoa continued CPR, assisted by a police officer who had arrived at the scene.
A few minutes later, the young man regained consciousness and could move his limbs. After confirming his vital signs were stable, Hoa advised his family to call an ambulance and take him to the hospital for further observation.
Hoa, a nurse with 18 years of experience in the toxicology department of Nghe An General Friendship Hospital, quickly recognized the man's critical condition. Performing CPR was part of her expertise.
She was visiting Hoa Lu ancient town that evening with her extended family of 32 people.

A representative from the Hoa Lu Ancient Town Management Board confirmed the young man recovered thanks to the prompt first aid. Hoa's actions were recorded by a relative and posted on social media on 5/8. The video garnered hundreds of thousands of views and much admiration.
"As a healthcare worker, in that situation, I, or anyone with the skills, would have tried to save him. It wasn't a big deal," Hoa said.
