RuNam's mid-autumn festival gift set inspired by French poetry and art

The "Full moon symphony" collection combines poetry, music, and architecture to create a moon-viewing experience evocative of autumn memories.

Since 2020, RuNam has presented its "Stage Cabinet" design, a mooncake box that doubles as an artistic furniture piece. For 6 years, this product has been continuously refreshed with cultural and artistic themes. The 2025 version, named "Full Moon Symphony" Stage Cabinet, is set against the backdrop of a banquet at Nguyet Dien, a moon palace inspired by An Dinh Palace's architecture.

An Dinh Palace is a prime example of the intersection between East Asian culture and early 20th-century French architectural aesthetics. This year's version focuses on visual art, music, and poetry.

The cabinet opens to reveal a world of deep blue-violet and gold, with arched vaults, stained glass, and inlaid motifs suggesting classic elegance. At the center is the image of Quynh Nga, a fairy, singing and dancing amidst the moonlight and a lake. The night-blooming cereus, which blossoms at midnight, is chosen as the symbol for this year's design.

Each year, the collection features a signature musical piece. This year, it's an arrangement of "Ly Cay Da", a folk song familiar to many generations. The arrangement blends traditional instruments like the dan tranh (16-string zither), nguyet cam (moon lute), and sao truc (bamboo flute) with Western instruments like the piano, strings, and percussion. This combination creates a harmonious blend of East and West.

In addition to the Stage Cabinet, the Quynh Nga gift box is also introduced as a new highlight. The design is inspired by the story of the first Vietnamese woman in space, combining gold-lacquered materials and 3D lenticular artwork. A RuNam representative stated that it's a tribute to the aspirations and unique identity of Vietnamese women.

Besides the focus on design, the cakes within the collection have also been carefully considered. This year, buyers can explore new flavors such as: baked mixed mooncake with roasted pigeon and char siu; baked mooncake with balsamic onion jam; baked mooncake with mung bean, onion jam, and dried shrimp; baked mooncake with black pepper beef stew; snow skin mooncake with rose, mung bean, and jujube; snow skin mooncake with plum jam, mung bean, and jujube; and snow skin mooncake with black sesame, mung bean, and ginger.

"Each gift box is designed as a short story about the mid-autumn festival, interwoven with elements of folk culture and fine art. RuNam hopes that recipients will not only enjoy the cakes but also appreciate the spiritual values contained within," a company representative said.
