Saigontourist Group raises 1 billion VND for scholarships

The "Saigontourist Group For the Community" golf tournament, held on 2/8, raised 1,000 scholarships totaling 1 billion VND for disadvantaged students in Ho Chi Minh City and surrounding areas.

The funds will be distributed to the students in August through a collaboration between Saigontourist Group and the Ho Chi Minh City Association for the Support of Poor Patients. Each scholarship is worth 1 million VND in cash.

Initiated in 2006, this charity golf tournament has attracted approximately 3,000 golfers and raised over 12 billion VND. The funds have supported various social activities, including scholarships for disadvantaged students. These scholarships have benefited students at the Nguyen Dinh Chieu School for the Blind, children in orphanages in Ho Chi Minh City, and orphans of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The tournament proceeds have also funded heart surgeries, eye surgeries, free medical examinations and treatment for poor patients, construction of gratitude houses for families of policy beneficiaries, aid for people in the highlands affected by natural disasters, and the building of rural bridges in disadvantaged areas.

Mr. Pham Huy Binh, Chairman of the Members' Council of Saigontourist Group, stated that the golf tournament transcends its sporting nature, becoming an opportunity to connect the business community and society in humanitarian activities.

This year's "For the Community" golf tournament by Saigontourist Group features 17 prizes, notably two "Hole in One" prizes, each including a Mercedes C200 Avantgarde and a travel voucher worth 500 million VND sponsored by Saigontourist Group.

Beyond the golf tournament, Saigontourist Group has implemented numerous other community-focused programs. These include a 10-billion VND initiative supporting production development and social security in Can Gio from 2017 to 2020, the "Clean Water for Schools" program, gifts for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and scholarships for children of disadvantaged employees.

Every year, Saigontourist Group's Trade Union also organizes activities to care for workers during the Lunar New Year. These include "Enjoy Tet with the City's Workers," "Tet Reunion," "Spring of Connecting Love," and the "Mid-Autumn Festival" for 500 children orphaned by the Covid-19 pandemic.
