Car stuck on tracks, hit by train and thrown off

A train struck an electric car, throwing it off the Bac Nam railway tracks after it became stuck in Dai Xuyen commune on the evening of 19/4.

Around 18h30, a man driving an electric car attempted to cross the railway tracks from an alley at Guot intersection, Dai Xuyen commune, Hanoi, to reach National Route 1. As the vehicle entered the tracks, the railway barrier lowered, trapping it.

Seeing the car trapped, several bystanders rushed to help the driver move the vehicle off the tracks, but they were unsuccessful.

Less than one minute after the car got stuck, train SE6 sped towards it, hitting the car and throwing it off the tracks. The driver fortunately escaped the vehicle just moments before.

At the scene, the electric car sustained severe damage, with its airbags deployed. The impact also broke a railway signal pole and a sign.

In recent times, the number of railway accidents in Hanoi has increased significantly, prompting local authorities to fence off many unauthorized crossings. Currently, there are three common violations: crossing tracks when the red light is on and the barrier has not yet lowered; crossing when the barrier is in the process of lowering; and stopping a vehicle within the railway safety zone.
