Around 1 p.m., traffic flowed on Saigon Bridge from central Ho Chi Minh City towards Suoi Tien. As vehicles descended the bridge slope, a pickup truck collided with a five-seater car ahead. Two additional four to five-seater cars then crashed into the sequence, resulting in a chain collision.

The four vehicles sustained front and rear damage, forming a line that blocked traffic lanes. This caused congestion from the city center to the former Thu Duc area for approximately 30 minutes. Cars stretched in long queues across three lanes, moving slowly.
Traffic police arrived, instructing drivers to move the vehicles to the roadside to ease congestion before documenting the scene for investigation. Initial findings indicate drivers failed to maintain a safe following distance, causing the crash.

Saigon Bridge, constructed in 1958 and nearly one km long, serves as an eastern gateway connecting Ho Chi Minh City with the central and northern regions. In 2012, Saigon Bridge 2 was built parallel to the original structure.
