This information was detailed in a decision to partially adjust the master plan for the former Thu Duc City area until 2040 within the Thu Thiem New Urban Area, recently approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
Under the revised plan, metro line 7, originating from Thu Thiem 4 bridge, will follow Bui Thien Ngo street and the To Huu axis, instead of the Tran Bach Dang route as previously planned. It will then merge onto Tran Nao street. Some station locations are adjusted accordingly to ensure infrastructure synchronization.

The rerouting aims to provide metro access to the new political-administrative center, which is expected to be built in the Thu Thiem New Urban Area. This center will cover an area of approximately 7,84 hectares, with its facade along To Huu street and facing the central square.
Metro line 7 was originally planned to be over 51 km long, with approximately 16,5 km underground and nearly 35 km elevated. Its route was set to run from Tan Kien station, passing through Nguyen Van Linh, the southern part of the city, Phu My Hung, Huynh Tan Phat, Tran Nao, Thao Dien, Thanh Da, Truong Tho, the Hi-Tech Park, and concluding at Vinhomes Grand Park.

The entire line is expected to feature 34 stations (12 underground, 22 elevated) along with two depots located in Tan Kien and Long Truong. The section passing through the Thu Thiem New Urban Area is expected to include 6 stations.
In addition to metro line 7, connectivity to the Thu Thiem New Urban Area also includes metro line 2 (Ben Thanh – Thu Thiem section). This line is nearly 6 km long, runs underground, and is among the projects Ho Chi Minh City prioritizes for investment and completion by 2030. This line includes two underground stations adjacent to the land designated for the new political-administrative center. Thaco proposed implementing this project with a total capital of approximately 33,000 billion dong.
