The expansion of Nguyen Tat Thanh street is a component of the Ben Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi Cultural Park and Ben Bach Dang Public Green Space project. The project broke ground on 1/7, coinciding with other constructions to mark the 50th anniversary of Saigon - Gia Dinh City's renaming to Ho Chi Minh City.
The entire project spans 73,3 hectares with an investment exceeding 29,300 ty dong, comprising five component projects. Ben Nha Rong Tourism Services Company Limited, a member of Sun Group, is investing in the work through a public-private partnership (PPP) under a build-transfer (BT) contract.

A significant component of the project involves expanding Nguyen Tat Thanh street to enhance connectivity between Ho Chi Minh City's southern district and its central area.
According to the master plan, the project includes constructing the new Tan Thuan 1 bridge, expanding the Tan Thuan 2 bridge, building the Hoang Dieu underpass, and developing a comprehensive system of parking lots, piers, a tourist reception center, and synchronized technical infrastructure.
For many years, the Ben Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi area and Ho Chi Minh City's southern gateway have experienced persistent traffic congestion due to heavy vehicle volumes and infrastructure lagging behind urban development. Sun Group stated that investing in a synchronized transport system will alleviate these long-standing bottlenecks, address residents' concerns, and improve connectivity between the southern district and the city center.

On the opposite bank, the Ben Bach Dang area will see investment in underground parking, an underground commercial center, and upgraded technical infrastructure, enhancing access to riverside public spaces.
Additionally, the project includes the construction of a pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River, connecting the Ben Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi area with Ben Bach Dang.
Beyond the transport infrastructure, the project dedicates a significant portion of its area to developing the Ben Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi Cultural Park, which will be integrated with the Ho Chi Minh Museum - Ho Chi Minh City Branch.
According to the investor, the park is envisioned as a cultural, historical, and public space, linked to the site where President Ho Chi Minh embarked on his journey to seek national salvation in 1911. It will offer residents and tourists an opportunity to explore President Ho Chi Minh's life, revolutionary career, and path to national liberation through various structures, landscapes, and interactive experiences.

A notable feature is the reconstruction of a replica of the Amiral Latouche-Treville ship, based on its original French design. This structure aims to commemorate the historical moment of President Ho Chi Minh's departure to seek national salvation.
The investor states that the project adopts a "heritage adaptation" approach, preserving the characteristic architectural values of the old port rather than erasing its traces, while infusing it with new vitality. Employing an "old shell, new core" methodology, existing warehouses and workshops will have their interiors transformed into spaces for exhibitions, creative endeavors, culture, commerce, services, and community activities.

The riverside area will be enhanced with parks, squares, pedestrian walkways, piers, and spaces designed for cultural and artistic activities.
Upon completion, the project will significantly improve transport infrastructure, expand riverside public spaces, and promote the historical value of the Ben Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi area.
