Agencies observing this holiday schedule must arrange work effectively to avoid disruptions, assigning on-call personnel to handle urgent matters. Units not following a fixed saturday and sunday weekly break will base their holiday arrangements on their operational plans. Ministries, sectors, and localities should proactively implement measures to boost production, ensure the supply and demand of goods and services, and stabilize prices and the market during the national day period.
Employees in businesses not subject to the above schedule will have their holiday arrangements for wednesday 2/9 decided by their employers, who can choose either tuesday 1/9 or thursday 3/9 as an additional day off. Employers must also inform employees of the holiday schedule at least 30 days in advance. However, the Ministry of Home Affairs encourages the adoption of the common holiday schedule and the implementation of agreements that are more beneficial to employees.

Vietnam currently observes 11 official public holidays: New Year's Day (1 day), Lunar New Year (5 days), Hung Kings' Commemoration Day (1 day), Reunification Day on 30/4 (1 day), International Workers' Day on 1/5 (1 day), and National Day (2 days). The Ministry of Home Affairs is proposing to add Vietnam Culture Day on 24/11 as a paid holiday. This aims to institutionalize Politburo Resolution 80 on cultural development and a National Assembly resolution from April. If approved, the total number of official holidays per year will increase to 12.
