The race is scheduled for 22/3. According to the organizers, after the initial 20 days of sales, the 21 km distance attracted the most athletes, with nearly 4,000 registrations. For the 42 km distance, the event recorded about 1,500 early entrants. International runners also stood out, with approximately 300 participants from 40 countries, including over 100 athletes from Korea. About 80% of runners come from southern provinces and cities such as TP HCM, Dong Nai, and Can Tho.

"The figure of 9,000 registrations during the super early bird phase is the highest ever within the VnExpress Marathon system. This clearly demonstrates the event's increasing appeal and places a responsibility on the organizers to elevate operational standards to meet runners' expectations," shared a representative from the organizing committee.
VnExpress Marathon Ho Chi Minh City Midnight takes place three weeks after Tet Nguyen Dan (Lunar New Year), a period when TP HCM enters its most pleasant weather phase of the year, with dry air, comfortable temperatures, and a vibrant pace of life returning after the long holiday. This is also a favored time for many runners to kick off their racing season, combining running with spring travel and city exploration.
After three seasons, the event's scale has steadily grown. In 2023, it saw about 10,000 athletes, increasing to 11,000 in 2024, and reaching 12,000 participants in the 2025 season. Achieving 9,000 registrations during the early sales phase for the 2026 season is a strong indication that the event's scale will continue to expand.
Following the conclusion of the super early bird phase, the event will transition to the early bird phase, with fees gradually increasing at each milestone before registration closes on 5/3/2026. Alongside individual tickets, the organizers maintain preferential policies for groups and businesses, offering maximum discounts of 25% and 30% respectively, depending on the registration size.
A significant draw of the event is the experience of running through "Saigon at night," where runners have the opportunity to traverse central thoroughfares and landmarks such as Tao Dan park, Independence Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, and Nguyen Hue walking street.
