Alcaraz and his team visited the Samurai Ninja Museum on 22/9. There, the Spanish player donned samurai armor and practiced wielding a katana. Alcaraz clearly enjoyed the novel experience with his team members.
After his cultural immersion, Alcaraz resumed training the following day. On the Tokyo hard courts, "Carlitos" practiced with his brother, Alvaro Alcaraz, before meeting fans at a swimming event.
This year marks Alcaraz's debut at the ATP 500 in Japan. His first opponent is Sebastian Baez. During this same period in 2024, Alcaraz competed in the China Open, securing victory against Jannik Sinner in the final.

Before arriving in Japan, Alcaraz competed alongside Team Europe against Team World at the Laver Cup in San Francisco. Despite winning two matches on the final day, Alcaraz and his team were defeated 9-15.
This year, Alcaraz has won seven tournaments, including two Grand Slams at Roland Garros and the US Open. Since the Monte Carlo Masters in April, the 22-year-old has reached the finals of all eight tournaments he's entered.
Alcaraz's remaining 2025 schedule includes five more tournaments: the Japan Open, Shanghai Masters, Paris Masters, ATP Finals, and Davis Cup. One of his key goals is to finish the year ranked number one.
