Following the match at St Mary's on the evening of 4/4, comedian Jack Whitehall posted on social media platform X: "I honestly think Arsenal could ruin everything", accompanied by a worried emoji.
Renowned television presenter Piers Morgan also expressed frustration with his beloved team. When Arsenal trailed 0-1 after the first half, he posted on social media: "Do you guys actually want to win any trophies, Arsenal? A terrible and lifeless half."
In the second half, after Viktor Gyokeres equalized to make it 1-1, Arsenal allowed Shea Charles to score in the 85th minute, leading to their elimination from the FA Cup. Morgan continued to express his disappointment, reposting Arsenal's Easter greeting and writing: "Not exactly in a celebratory mood."

These posts quickly made Morgan a target of ridicule for rival fans. Not only recent posts, but Morgan's old statements were also "resurfaced."
On 9/3, he had commented that Arsenal received a great draw by facing Southampton in the FA Cup quarter-finals. In response, after their victory on 4/4, Southampton quoted his post, accompanying it with a photo of Shea Charles – who scored the winning goal – celebrating after the final whistle, to mock him.
The club also taunted an Arsenal fan who called their victory a "lucky win," by responding: "Enjoy your quadruple, mate."
A Man City fan created an AI image of an "apple crumble" dessert and renamed it "Arsenal crumble," implying the London team "crumbled" at a decisive moment.

Meanwhile, former prominent player Micah Richards questioned coach Mikel Arteta's personnel decisions. Against Southampton, he continued to place trust in goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga – who had made a mistake in the loss to Man City in the League Cup final. He also gave opportunities to several reserve players such as Myles Lewis-Skelly, Christian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard, and 16-year-old talent Max Dowman. In attack, Viktor Gyokeres – a forward who just scored 4 goals across two play-off matches to help Sweden secure a wild card spot for the 2026 World Cup – was on the bench.
"You have to use your strongest squad. There's always great pressure in such matches. You can't take such risks," Richards commented on BBC. "They used to defend well, transition well, had a stable team structure, and their effort was always high. But today's performance was very poor."
Two consecutive losses, first to Man City in the League Cup final and then to Southampton in the FA Cup quarter-finals, shattered Arsenal's "quadruple dream." "The Gunners" still have opportunities to compete in two competitions, aiming for their first trophy since the 2020 FA Cup. Arteta's team will face Sporting in the Champions League quarter-finals and are 9 points ahead of Man City in the Premier League.
