At Red Bull Arena on the evening of 17/1, RB Leipzig took a surprising lead in the first half with a close-range tap-in from Romulo Cardoso. However, that was the extent of the home team's efforts. In the second half, Bayern surged, maintaining their unbeaten Bundesliga record this season.
In the 50th minute, Serge Gnabry unleashed a fierce diagonal shot, leveling the score at 1-1. This goal marked his 100th in 308 appearances for Bayern.
From that point, the match belonged entirely to the visitors. Michael Olise was central to their brilliant performance, delivering a hat-trick of assists, setting up Harry Kane, Jonathan Tah, and Aleksandar Pavlovic. In the 88th minute, the English midfielder concluded the goal spree with his signature left-footed strike, sealing a convincing victory.

Beyond securing all three points, Bayern also welcomed positive news regarding their squad: Jamal Musiala returned to the field in the 87th minute. This marked the German midfielder's comeback after 196 days recovering from a serious injury sustained against PSG in the Club World Cup. Less than one minute after entering the game, Musiala made an immediate impact, assisting Olise's goal.
"Musiala is full of positive energy. When you overcome such a difficult period, even the smallest things feel amazing. I always remind players returning from injury to cherish that special feeling of their first moment back", coach Vincent Kompany shared after the match.
This victory extended Bayern's unbeaten streak to 18 matches, comprising 16 wins and two draws. They remain firmly atop the Bundesliga table with 50 points, an 11-point lead over second-placed Dortmund.
In their next match, "The Bavarians" will face Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise in Champions League group stage matchday seven on 21/1.
