The incident occurred during a professional women's hockey league (PWHL) game at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington. During an intermission, fans simultaneously threw sports bras onto the ice, prompting organizers to pause the game for cleanup.

This unusual scene was part of the "Sports Bra Toss" event, organized to raise funds and collect donations for underprivileged girls. The initiative collaborated with Bras for Girls, a non-profit organization that specializes in providing athletic wear to young girls, enabling them to participate in physical activities.
According to organizers, fans were encouraged to bring new sports bras to the arena and toss them onto the ice at a designated time during the game. Additionally, spectators could donate a minimum of 20 USD to receive a sports bra at the venue, then participate in the toss.
During the Seattle Torrent versus Boston Fleet game alone, around 1,300 sports bras were collected after the fan toss. These items will be delivered to Bras for Girls for distribution to girls in need of support.
According to the organization, a lack of basic equipment is a barrier that causes many girls to abandon sports. Especially after puberty, sports bras become essential attire for physical activity, but not all families can afford them. Donation campaigns, therefore, aim to help girls continue participating in sports, from soccer and basketball to hockey.
The event was a highlight of the "Women in Sports Evening" program hosted by the Seattle Torrent, celebrating women's roles in athletics. For the occasion, the team also invited female executive representatives from several Seattle professional sports clubs, including the Seattle Storm (basketball), Seattle Reign (women's soccer), Seattle Seahawks (American football), Seattle Sounders (men's soccer), and Seattle Mariners (baseball).
Beyond the charity drive, the game featured other fan activities. 6,000 early attendees received Cayla Barnes bobbleheads. Seattle Torrent players also entered the arena with dogs from a local animal rescue center, encouraging community awareness about pet adoption.
