Becamex TP HCM was relegated from V-League 2025-2026 on the evening of 7/6, marking their first descent despite securing a 3-1 home victory against HAGL in the final round. The Thu Land team's fate was sealed by unfavorable results in simultaneous matches: PVF-CAND defeated SLNA 3-1, while Da Nang crushed Thanh Hoa 4-0.
Entering the decisive match, Becamex TP HCM, PVF-CAND, and Da Nang all had 21 points. However, Becamex TP HCM faced a disadvantage due to their head-to-head record, meaning a win against HAGL would not guarantee their safety. Determined to secure a victory, Becamex TP HCM quickly opened the scoring in the 4th minute through Bui Vi Hao. Although Gia Bao equalized for HAGL by the end of the first half, the home side at Go Dau Stadium scored two more goals late in the match to clinch a 3-1 win, striving to save their season.
The results from other venues solidified Becamex TP HCM's relegation. PVF-CAND's victory over SLNA secured them a spot in the play-off match against Bac Ninh, the second-place team from the First Division. Meanwhile, Da Nang achieved a dramatic escape, retaining their place in the V-League.

Becamex TP HCM, formerly known as Binh Duong, was founded in 1997 as Cao su Binh Long, Binh Phuoc. After several transformations, the team was renamed Binh Duong in 2002 and competed in the First Division. They were promoted to the V-League one year later and have remained there ever since.
Once dubbed "Chelsea Vietnam" for their significant investment in top domestic and foreign players, Becamex TP HCM enjoyed a golden era. This strategy led them to four V-League championships in 2007, 2008, 2014, and 2015. They also won three National Cups in 1994, 2015, and 2018, along with four National Super Cups in 2007, 2008, 2014, and 2015.
During their prime, the club boasted many famous players, including Huynh Kesley, Philani, Nguyen Anh Duc, Nguyen Vu Phong, Nguyen Tien Linh, Le Tan Tai, Ho Tuan Tai, Chau Phong Hoa, Luong Trung Tuan, and Nguyen Trung Vinh. However, they were also known for frequent coaching changes, typically replacing their coach once a year.
This season proved no different, with Becamex TP HCM employing four different coaches—Nguyen Anh Duc, Dang Tran Chinh, Ueno Nobuhiro, and Hua Hien Vinh—yet they could not avoid relegation.
