Vietnam secured their spot in the ASEAN Cup 2026 final after a 2-0 victory over Malaysia in the semi-final second leg at My Dinh Stadium this evening, 19/8. This win extended Vietnam's unbeaten streak against Malaysia to 12 matches, including 11 victories. This marks the sixth time Vietnam has advanced past the semi-finals of the Southeast Asian tournament in 14 appearances at this stage. The team now aims for their fourth title, having previously won in 2008, 2018, and 2024, and seeks to achieve their first back-to-back championship.
In the other semi-final, Thailand defeated Singapore with an aggregate score of 4-3 over two legs. Thailand lost the second leg 1-2 at their home ground, Rajamangala Stadium, on 18/8. This is Thailand's fourth consecutive appearance in the Southeast Asian final, and their 12th overall. They have won seven titles in 1996, 2000, 2002, 2014, 2016, 2020, and 2022.
The first leg of the ASEAN Cup 2026 final will take place at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok on 22/8. Four days later, the return leg will be held at My Dinh Stadium.
