Vietnam successfully defended their championship title by defeating Thailand with an aggregate score of 4-2 in the two-leg final. This included a 2-0 victory in Bangkok, followed by a 2-2 draw in Hanoi. This achievement makes coach Kim Sang-sik the first strategist in history to lead Vietnam to two consecutive tournament victories in the ASEAN Cup era, a title previously known as the Tiger Cup and AFF Cup.

Throughout the tournament, the team secured dominant victories, such as a 7-0 win against Timor Lester in the group stage. They also outperformed equally matched opponents, including a 3-0 victory over Indonesia in the group stage and a 4-0 win against Malaysia in the semifinals. Over eight matches, coach Kim's team remained undefeated, scoring 21 goals while conceding only three.

The team also swept the major individual awards: Nguyen Dinh Bac was named Best Player and shared the Top Scorer title with Nguyen Xuan Son, both scoring 5 goals. Le Giang Patrik received the Best Goalkeeper award.
