Decoding the unique language that helps a visually impaired runner conquer marathons

Visually impaired runner Huynh Huu Canh and his guide Huynh Thanh Tam explain how they coordinate to complete long-distance runs.

Huynh Huu Canh lost his sight after a bomb explosion at the age of 8. He began running in 2022 and has since completed three full marathons and more than 10 half-marathons. He also participated in a triathlon, taking on the running portion while two other disabled athletes cycled and swam.

At the VnExpress Marathon Can Tho 2025 on 14/9, Canh and his guide, Huynh Thanh Tam, participated in the 21km race, finishing in 2 hours, 38 minutes, and 24 seconds.
