"There are things I made clear from the start, for example, I don't want to be an assistant. I know I only want to be a head coach," Fabregas said on Cadena COPE on 11/5. "As for the possibility of leading Real? I haven't thought about it yet, but anything can happen."

Fabregas also addressed the topic of Real, specifically Xabi Alonso's handling of the Vinicius Junior situation. He emphasized that what makes a coach better is prioritizing the team. According to a revelation from The Athletic on 11/5, the reason for Alonso's downfall at Real in 1/2026 was not solely due to performance, but also stemmed from serious locker room rifts, particularly involving Vinicius.
"If you have a united and strong team, even if an individual loses control, you will still have the respect of the entire squad," Fabregas added. "In the long run, that is always better for you."
Fabregas currently coaches Como, a team making remarkable progress in Italy. 7 years ago, they were a semi-professional club, playing in the 4th division Serie D. But after two years in Serie A, Como is now guaranteed a spot in the top 6, securing a ticket to next season's Europa League, and even has a chance to enter the Champions League qualification spots.
"I am a shareholder of Como Club and the team's transfer manager," Fabregas said. "Coaching Como is like going to university every day. I am in a place that helps me grow, and I am very happy."
Regarding Nico Paz's future, Fabregas stated that no one from Real has contacted Como to negotiate the purchase of the Argentinian midfielder, who is estimated to be worth 11 million USD. The Spanish coach also expressed affection for his player, seeing Nico Paz as "almost like a son."
Among the coaches he has worked with, Fabregas is particularly impressed by his former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger. Fabregas also admitted he had always wanted to work with Carlo Ancelotti. But if he had to choose the best coach right now, Fabregas would not hesitate to point out: "What Luis Enrique is doing is truly incredible to me."
