Born in 1995, Sukamuljo was hailed by Indonesian media as a "rare badminton genius of two decades" due to his exceptional speed and technique. However, limitations in his backcourt attacking ability and an overly technical, less practical playing style prevented him from advancing further in his career.
Sukamuljo once held the world no. one ranking in men's doubles according to the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and was considered one of the best players of his generation. He won titles including the All England Open in 2017 and 2018, the World Superseries Finals in 2017, and the ASIAD in 2018. He also contributed to the Indonesian national team's victories at the SEA Games in 2015, the Asia Team Championships in 2018 and 2020, and the Thomas Cup in 2020.

Alongside his teammate Marcus Gideon, Sukamuljo formed the renowned men's doubles pair nicknamed "Minions." This moniker stemmed from their modest height combined with an agile, flexible playing style, characterized by quick, jumping movements reminiscent of the popular animated characters from the movie Despicable Me.
Sukamuljo and Gideon once dominated Badminton World Federation (BWF) tournaments, holding the men's doubles world no. one position for a total of 234 weeks, including 214 consecutive weeks. Despite this, they never won a men's doubles championship at major tournaments, securing only one individual gold medal at the 2018 ASIAD.
