Mobile games have been a primary growth driver for the gaming industry for many years. According to a Newzoo report, global revenue for this segment reached 103 billion USD in 2025, accounting for more than half of the total game market revenue.
Within this landscape, advertising is a main revenue source for many mass-market mobile games, which are easily accessible and target a broad player base. However, this model faces challenges, including short product lifecycles, pressure to retain players, and increasing user acquisition costs.

Addressing these realities, the first GameTalk session at Vietnam GameVerse 2026 is themed "Maximizing the economic potential of mobile games". The program will be broadcast at 10h on 22/4.
The discussion will feature experts Dhruv Kapoor, Lead Product Manager at Gameloft Saigon, and Pham Ngoc Anh Thu, Product Manager at Gameloft Hanoi. Nguyen Huy Dung, Product Manager at Gameloft Hanoi, will host the program. With extensive experience in managing and operating mobile games, the speakers are expected to offer practical insights into building products capable of long-term growth.
Over more than 40 minutes, the experts will discuss approaches to help studios diversify revenue streams beyond models primarily reliant on advertising. They will also explore strategies for developing products with longer lifecycles and more sustainable growth. Drawing from Gameloft's practical experience, the session will suggest ways to balance player experience with business effectiveness.
"In an increasingly competitive game market with rising user acquisition costs, the challenge of monetizing mobile games extends beyond just advertising. It lies in the ability to retain players long enough and build long-term value for the product", Dhruv shared.
Additionally, the program will cover factors behind a game's ability to thrive for many years. This includes designing progression systems, operating in-game events, and creating activity schedules tailored to different seasons, markets, and player groups. The discussion will also provide insight into how studios use data, operational tools, and community understanding to optimize product performance.
Launched in 2023, GameTalk brings together experts, developers, streamers, and game enthusiasts to discuss development trends, new technologies, and opportunities within the game industry.
The program is an activity within the framework of Vietnam Game Day - Vietnam GameVerse 2026, jointly organized by the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information, VnExpress newspaper, Vietnam Game Alliance, and FPT Online Services Joint Stock Company.
