Speaking on state television on 11/3, Sports Minister Ahmad Donyamali stated that Iran "cannot participate in the World Cup under any circumstances" following attacks by the US and Israel on the country since 28/2.

"Given that this corrupt regime assassinated our leader, under no circumstances can we participate in the World Cup", Donyamali said, referring to the US. "The current situation makes it impossible for Iran to ensure the minimum conditions to send a team to the tournament".
