In the 24th minute, following a video review on the sideline, the referee awarded Bayern a penalty after determining Kane's volley struck Giorgio Scalvini's hand in the box. From the penalty spot, the English striker's shot towards the right corner was saved by Marco Sportiello.
However, the referee ruled that the Atalanta goalkeeper moved off his line before Kane's shot, ordering a retake. On the second attempt, Kane once more aimed for the right corner, while Sportiello dived left, securing Bayern's opening goal.

In the 52nd minute, despite close marking from two Atalanta players, Kane skillfully created space before turning and striking the ball into the top corner. Sportiello's full-stretch dive proved futile, completing Kane's brace and extending Bayern's lead to 2-0.
These goals marked Kane's 49th and 50th in the Champions League, making him the first English player to achieve this milestone. He now significantly outranks Wayne Rooney, the former striker who registered 30 goals in the competition.
Kane reached 50 goals in 66 Champions League appearances, mirroring Lionel Messi's achievement. Historically, only Erling Haaland (49 matches) and Ruud van Nistelrooy (62 matches) have reached this milestone faster.
Kane also matched legendary Thierry Henry's Champions League scoring record, placing him behind only Thomas Muller, Erling Haaland (57 goals), Kylian Mbappe (68), Raul (71), Karim Benzema (90), Robert Lewandowski (109), Lionel Messi (129), and Cristiano Ronaldo (140).
This season, Kane has elevated his tally to 47 goals in 39 matches across all competitions. This marks his highest career scoring record and surpasses any other player in Europe's five top national leagues.

At Allianz Arena on the evening of 18/3, Bayern dominated the match, holding 66% possession and registering 23 shots with eight on target, compared to Atalanta's 14 shots and six on target. Following Kane's brace, Bayern extended their lead to 3-0 through a left-footed strike into the far corner by Lennart Karl. At 18 years and 24 days old, Karl became the second youngest German player to score in the Champions League knockout stage, surpassed only by teammate Jamal Musiala, who scored against Lazio in 2021 at 18 years and two days old.
In the 70th minute, Karl further contributed with a long pass, setting up Luis Diaz who broke free and chipped the ball to make it 4-0. This made Karl the youngest German player to both score and assist in a Champions League match.
Atalanta's late efforts yielded only one goal, scored by Lazar Samardzic in the 85th minute. With a 4-1 victory in the second leg, Bayern advanced with a 10-2 aggregate score and will now face Real Madrid in the quarterfinals.
