Man Utd secures dominant win against premier league's bottom-ranked team

Midfielder Bruno Fernandes scored two goals, guiding Man Utd to a 4-1 victory over hosts Wolverhampton in the late match of premier league round 15.

Man Utd squandered several opportunities before opening the scoring in the 25th minute with a scrappy play. Home team midfielder Joao Gomes slipped, losing the ball dangerously near the penalty area. Visiting striker Matheus Cunha gained possession, attempting a pass to Bruno Fernandes, which was slightly underhit, causing the Man Utd captain to also slip inside the box. After recovering, Fernandes shot, hitting goalkeeper Sam Johnstone's thigh before deflecting into the net.

Despite taking the lead, Man Utd gradually lost control towards the end of the first half. This allowed Wolves to equalize. From a cross by defender David Moller Wolfe on the left, midfielder Jean-Ricner Bellegarde executed a beautiful volley into the far corner, leaving goalkeeper Senne Lammens with no chance to save.

This marked Wolves' first goal since October 2025. Before this match, the home team had endured a streak of five consecutive losses, failing to score in any of them.

However, Man Utd quickly regained control after the break. In the 51st minute, following a strong tackle by Luke Shaw, the visitors launched a rapid counter-attack. Cunha delivered a through ball to Diogo Dalot, who surged forward on the left and found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper. The Portuguese defender chose not to shoot, instead delivering a perfect cross for Bryan Mbeumo to tap into an empty net. The Cameroonian striker thereby ended a four-match goal drought across all competitions.
