Rainy race at HDBank Green Marathon

Thousands of runners competed in Can Gio on the morning of 20/9 amidst light, continuous rain, combined with a flat course ideal for accelerating and achieving personal bests.

HDBank Green Marathon 2026 began at 3h30 in light rain with minimal wind. The rain seemed to energize the 4,000 athletes as they conquered the course through the UNESCO-recognized world biosphere reserve.

Starting from the Can Gio Youth Cultural House area, the race led runners through central routes such as Duyen Hai, Luong Van Nho, Dao Cu, and Le Thuong roads before moving onto Rung Sac road.

The light rain persisted from 3h30 until almost 7h that day. Many runners commented that this weather was suitable for competition, as it helped limit energy loss.

On the race course, runners could experience the wild beauty of Can Gio and the developing areas. The image shows athletes running past the Martyrs' Temple of Rung Sac War Zone.

Thien Nga, a 26-year-old runner from Tay Ninh, enjoyed the 21km race while running on Luong Van Nho road. This runner finished after two hours 43 minutes.

Runners sprinted on Dao Cu road as dawn broke. Along both sides of the road, many shops began preparing for business. Many local residents enthusiastically stood in the rain to cheer for the passing athletes.

Members of HDBank Runner group ran past Duc Phat Mau Church. According to information from the enterprise, approximately 500 HDBank members participated in the event. They are employees from various branches nationwide.

One of the race's unique features is the route through Rung Sac, traversing the green mangrove forest. Runners clearly felt the cool, fresh air while running through this area on the morning of 20/9.

Doan Ngoc Hai conquered Ha Thanh bridge, one of the few inclines on the course. Most of the remaining route was flat. Therefore, the slope at Ha Thanh was a small challenge and a highlight for check-ins.

Doan Thu Hang, the 21km runner-up, finished in the rain. Beyond creating an exciting sports atmosphere, the race left many professional marks. Doan Thu Hang, the VM Quy Nhon 2026 champion, finished second after Ethiopian athlete Marta Tinsae. Truong Van Tam won the men's 21km event.

The 42km race saw Trieu Tien Luyen win his second championship after the 2024 season. He surpassed veteran Dang Anh Quyet to claim first place.

Beautiful moments of runners crossing the finish line. The fifth season concluded at 10h that day as most runners completed the course. A representative from HDBank stated that after five editions, the event has been actively embraced by the community. Besides being a sports playground, the race contributes to spreading messages about green, sustainable living, connecting with the pace of life. Running through a land rich in history and culture of TP HCM also serves to introduce the image of Can Gio to the running community. Hoai Phuong

The HDBank Green Marathon 2026, held on 19-20/9 with the theme "Rendezvous of green footsteps and digital living", returned to TP HCM's coastal gateway region, marking the fifth season of its journey connecting sports, nature, technology, and community.

On the course amidst mangroves, rivers, and the sea, each step is not only about achieving personal bests. Every 5 km of registered distance is converted into a newly planted tree.

Over more than 36 years of development, HDBank has collaborated on and implemented numerous programs in sports, culture, education, healthcare, social welfare, and the environment. From football, futsal, and chess to running, each initiative aims to encourage positive lifestyles, improve community health, and contribute to sustainable development.
