The controversy erupted when English journalist Piers Morgan publicly defended Ronaldo following the 41-year-old forward's unexpected departure from the Portugal squad, after which Ronaldo released a lengthy 1,996-word statement explaining his reasons. Morgan subsequently engaged in a heated debate with commentator Simon Jordan on talkSPORT, before revealing a sarcastic message directly from Ronaldo.

Morgan, who shares a close relationship with Ronaldo, argued that coach Jesus did not show the Portuguese superstar the respect his stature deserved. This viewpoint led to a fierce argument with Jordan on talkSPORT on Wednesday, 7/10.
That evening, during his show "Football Uncensored", Morgan disclosed that he had sent a video of the verbal spat to Ronaldo. The 41-year-old forward's reaction amused the studio guests.
"Cristiano messaged back: 'That blonde guy? Tell him to stop with the Botox. He looks like an apple'", Morgan read the message, much to the delight of former player Jason Cundy. Botox injections are a cosmetic procedure using small doses of botulinum toxin to temporarily relax muscles, reducing wrinkles and making facial skin appear smoother.
"This is breaking news directly from Cristiano Ronaldo. You are an apple. A blonde apple with a suspiciously taut face", Morgan continued, mocking Jordan.
When guest Richard Keys remarked that Jordan probably did not appreciate being called "blonde", Morgan, 61, added that the 59-year-old commentator's hair had not been naturally blonde for about 20 years.
Simon Jordan, 59, is an English businessman, football commentator, and former Crystal Palace chairman. He made a fortune from the mobile phone business before purchasing Crystal Palace in 2000, when he was just 32. During his ten years at the helm, Jordan led the team to the Premier League in 2004, but had to leave when the club faced a financial crisis in 2010. He is currently a prominent commentator for talkSPORT, known for his frank statements and willingness to debate major figures in football.
On the morning of 8/10, Jordan seemed unfazed by Ronaldo's taunt. "Botox? I wish I could get Botox. I think that's quite a compliment", he responded.

The verbal spat between the two English media personalities began when Jordan referenced the infamous 2022 interview between Morgan and Ronaldo, an event that contributed to the Portuguese forward's tumultuous departure from Man Utd. Jordan described the conversation as an overly flattering and fawning display, to the point of discomfort.
The English commentator then questioned Ronaldo's conduct, suggesting that the forward himself might be the common factor in his conflicts with coaches.
"From your objective and comprehensive perspective, is it possible that the common denominator in these disagreements lies in Ronaldo's own behavior?", Jordan challenged Morgan. "Or are you too busy flattering Ronaldo to consider that possibility?"
As Morgan continued to object, Jordan emphasized that the host seemed unable to consider alternative perspectives, despite Ronaldo's recurring similar controversies.
Tension escalated when Morgan suggested Jordan lacked sufficient experience to comment on top-tier football, as he had never had a successful playing career. Jordan retorted by calling Morgan "an idiot".
Morgan later explained his support for Ronaldo's decision to leave the national team and his statement, citing pride in the forward's self-defense. According to the English journalist, Ronaldo understands his career is entering its final stages, is aware of his legacy, and wishes to conclude his journey honorably. "One thing I've learned over the years of knowing Cristiano is that you have to be direct with him and give him respect", he emphasized.

The conflict between Ronaldo and Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus is generating mixed reactions. On 6/10, the 41-year-old forward released a nearly 2,000-word open letter, criticizing Jorge Jesus for two broken promises. He also apologized to his teammates and Portuguese fans for leaving the national team without permission.
In his message, Ronaldo even mentioned Pele when discussing himself. He also revealed eight apology points that, according to the forward, Jorge Jesus had agreed to make public. Despite the conflict with the head coach, CR7 affirmed his desire to continue playing for Portugal after serving any potential penalties.
